ABOUT
Carla H. Woodall was first elected as the Circuit Clerk of Houston County in 2007 and is currently serving in her thrid term. A former court reporter, she has been with Alabama's Unified Judicial System since 1996. Active within the judicial system, she has served on various committees and is currently a member of the Alabama Rules of Appellate Procedures Committee, Joint Committee on Confidentiality of Records, and Secretary of the Alabama Professional Bail Bond Board. She is a very active member of the Alabama Circuit Clerk's Association serving on the education, legislative and elections committees. As the Circuit Clerk, she also serves as the Absentee Election Manager and has been actively involved in legislation and training related to absentee voting. Born and raised in Dothan, Alabama, she is very involved within the community where she also serves on the Board for Flowers Hospital. Married to Bob Woodall, together they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Circuit Clerk serves as the courts “official record keeper” and business manager on all court proceedings held in the District and Circuit Courts. While the Circuit Clerk serves as an administrative arm of the Court, the primary responsibilities are to maintain court records and manage the collection and disbursement of court funds for the court system with integrity and security at all times.
On a daily basis, the Circuit Clerk’s Office interacts with the public while managing court pleadings, collecting fines and fees, preparing subpoenas and issuing court notices for scheduled trials and hearings. These court records are divided into ten different divisions that include Civil, Criminal, Domestic, Child Support, Traffic, Juvenile and Warrants. Jury management also falls under the duties of the Circuit Clerk.

As a constitutional officer, the Circuit Clerk has the responsibility to serve as the Absentee Election Manager on county, state and federal elections for Houston County.
